Williamsburg continues to show improvement during 51-49 loss to East Jessamine

WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg didn’t come out on top, but the Lady Yellow Jackets continue to show improvement, evident in Saturday’s 51-49 loss to East Jessamine.

Williamsburg (5-19) hung tough with the Lady Jaguars before falling in the end by two points.

Melissa Douglas’ squad trailed 17-11 at the end of the first quarter, and 27-23 at halftime before finding themselves trailing by four points (40-36) entering the fourth quarter.

Williamsburg battled and built a three-point edge before East Jessamine rallied to get the win.

“Another great effort today. Not the result we wanted,” Douglas said. “We fought back to regain a lead in the fourth quarter and were up by three. Then they hit a 3. Just shows we still have some work to do under pressure. I’m still pleased with how we are improving. Hands down, team ball.”

Lovelie Coleman and Allie Wilson scored 11 points apiece for the Lady Yellow Jackets while Hannah Creekmore added nine points, and Lylah Mattingly chipped in six points.
