Cardinals limit Knott Central to only 26 points during 21-point victory over the Patriots

LONDON — If South Laurel continues to play defense the way it has over the past six games, the Cardinals could very well be cutting down the nets at The Arena in a couple of week.

Jeff Davis’ squad has turned in many impressive defensive efforts throughout the season, but Tuesday’s performance against Knott Central might take the cake.

The Patriots entered the game with a 21-7 record, they left with a 21-point loss.

South Laurel held Knott Central to its lowest scoring output of the season during its 47-26 win.

The Cardinals have now held their opponents to less than 50 points for the sixth consecutive game.

Just how stingy was South Laurel’s defensive play?

The Cardinals held the Patriots to only three points in the first quarter, and 10 points at halftime while holding a 21-10 advantage. They led 35-14 entering the fourth quarter.

Colton Rawlings had the hot hand for South Laurel, leading the way with 17 points while hitting three 3-pointers. Jordan Mabe added 14 points while Josh Steele finished with nine points.
