LONDON — South Laurel ended its regular season by turning in one of its best defensive efforts of the season.
After holding Knott Central to its lowest point total (26) of the season in Tuesday, the Cardinals held Lynn Camp to its lowest scoring output during their 59-19 win on Thursday.
“Tonight we honored and celebrated our Senior Hunter Bundy,” South Laurel coach Jeff Davis said. “He has worked hard and been the ultimate teammate. Hunter never gives up and plays as hard as anyone I’ve ever coached and it’s great to see that paying off for him. I’m so proud of him and what he has meant to this program.”
South Laurel (18-9) has put on a defensive clinic during its current five-game win streak, limiting opponents to only 33.4 points per game.
The Cardinals led 14-5 after the first quarter, and 29-10 at halftime before outscoring Lynn Camp, 30-9, in the second half.
The Wildcats (8-19) only had eight field goals the entire game. Tate Mills led the way with 12 points while Ethan Burd had five points and Hunter Messer scored two points.
Eleven players scored for South Laurel with Landon Howard leading the way. He scored 18 points while hitting five 3-pointers. Jordan Mabe followed with eight points while Hunter Bundy added two 3-pointers, finishing with seven points.
