Redhounds picking up steam, hold Bell County to 39 points during 13-point win

CORBIN — Corbin continues to pick up steam heading into postseason play.

The Redhounds limited visiting Bell County to its second lowest scoring output of the season during their 52-39 win on Thursday.

The win, Corbin’s fourth in a row, improves To y Pietrowski’s squad to 18-8 while the Bobcats fell to 24-6 after starting the season with 16 consecutive wins.

“Very good win for our team on senior night,” Pietrowski said. “Bell County is well-coached, has talented players, and play a postseason style of basketball. We gathered ourselves after the first quarter and buckled down defensively from that point forward.

“Thought for the majority of the second half we executed well offensively,” he added. “Love this group of seniors. I’ve been around most of them since they were big enough to hold a basketball. Special group and fitting senior night to honor them.”

Corbin trailed 11-10 entering the second quarter, but rallied to take a 24-19 lead at halftime.

The Redhounds added on to their five-point cushion in the second half, outscoring the Bobcats, 28-20, to secure the win.

Zander Curry led Corbin with 16 points while Conner Middleton finished with nine points. Cameron Hall led Bell County with 15 points while Ethan Buell scored nine points.
