Lady Cardinals snap three-game losing skid with 65-26 win over Estill County 

LONDON — Chris Souder’s South Laurel Lady Cardinals needed some momentum heading into next week’s 50th District Tournament and they were able to get it by turning in a dominating win on Thursday.

The Lady Cardinals (18-12) were able to snap a three-game losing skid by upending Estill County, 65-26.

“Felt really good to get back on the winning side,” Souder said. “We had good energy tonight. This was a good game for us to get ready for next week.”

South Laurel led from the get-go, building a comfortable 26-12 lead and never looking back.

The Lady Cardinals held a 49-16 lead at halftime, and a 57-21 advantage entering the fourth quarter.

Ten players scored for South Laurel with Shelbie Mills leading the way. She finished with 14 points while Maci Messer, and Skeeter Mabe scored 11 points apiece. Jamie Buenaventura added nine points while Callie Jones scored eight points.
