Chadwell scores 29 points, pulls down 18 rebounds during Panthers’ 68-52 win

CORBIN — After a one-year absence, the Knox Central Panthers (20-9) will be heading back to the 13th Region Tournament.

Mitchell Madden’s squad secured their entry into the tournament by defeating Barbourville, 68-52, during semifinal play of Tuesday’s 51st District Tournament.

Senior Gavin Chadwell poured in 29 points while grabbing 18 rebounds in the win. Grayson Burton finished with 13 points and 10 boards while Brayden Mills added 14 points.

“Great win for our team,” Madden said. “Hats off to Barbourville and coach Chris Taylor. He had them ready to play. The game was a battle just as we expected. In the third quarter, we pushed lead out some and held on.”
