Clay County runs win streak to 14 games, captures 49th District title with 79-42 win over North Laurel 

MANCHESTER — North Laurel’s run as 49th District champions came to an end on Friday with Clay County putting on a dominating effort.

The Tigers (23-8) won their 14th game in a row by handing the Jaguars a 79-42 loss.

Mike Jones’ squad jumped out to a 29-9 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, building a 49-21 advantage at halftime while taking a 64-33 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Clay County had four players reach double figures in scoring with Jerrod Roark’s 18-point scoring effort leading the way. Elijah Bundy added 17 points while Ethan Jackson finished with 13 points and Hayden Harris chipping in 12 points.

North Laurel (17-15) never got on track on both ends of the court.

The Jaguars were led in scoring by Brody Brock’s 18 points. He also hit three 3-pointers. Reece Davidson added 10 points while Kole Jervis hit two 3-pointers while scoring eight points.
