Whitley County sophomore Autumn Sawyers paved the way for an 11-2 win Lady Colonel win over McCreary Central on Monday by scoring six goals while adding two assists.
Whitley County did what good teams do after falling to South Laurel and Perry Central the past two games — they responded with a win.
“We needed this confidence boost after our match up with South,” Whitley County coach Kelly Sawyers said. “The girls played the ball well hitting lanes and switching fields tonight. We played some subs hoping to save some of our starters for our other matchups this week.”
Deserae Haynes added two goals and three assists while Norma Proffitt scored two goals, and Madison Earls had a goal and three assists. Ryleigh Petrey also had an assist in the win.
The Lady Colonels will be back in action at home Tuesday against Casey County.
