LEXINGTON — Butler managed to break open a close game with Anderson County in first round action of the KHSAA Girls’ Sweet 16 by using a 22-11 run in the game’s final eight minutes to pick up a 58-49 win.
The Bearettes hit an impressive 23-of-40 shot attempts from the floor, including a 6-of-12 performance from behind the arc.
Four players scored in double figures for Butler with Ramiya White’s 16 points leading the way. eMates Gober added 11 points while Mariah Knight and Malia Patrick each scored 10 points apiece.
The Bearettes (27-8) entered the second quarter tied the Lady Bearcats at 11 apiece, but managed to take a 24-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Anderson County (32-3) fought back in the third quarter, building a 38-36 advantage entering the fourth quarter before Butler began to pull away.
Jenna Satterly and Lainey Johnson scored a game-high 17 points apiece for the Lady Bearcats.
