LEXINGTON — Louisville Butler survived a scare from Franklin County during Friday’s quarterfinal action of the KHSAA Girls’ Sweet 16, handing the Lady Flyers a 39-36 loss.
The game was close throughout with eight lead changes and five ties despite Butler leading the game for more than 25 minutes.
The Bearettes held a slim 10-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 14-13 edge at halftime before clinging on to a 26-25 advantage entering the fourth quarter.
Butler managed to outscore the Lady Flyers, 13-11, in the game’s final eight minutes to secure the win.
Ramiya White led Butler with 19 points and 12 rebounds while Mariah Knight had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bearettes limited Franklin County to 9-of-43 shooting from the floor and 1-of-13 from 3-point range.
Rachel Shropshire led the Lady Flyers with eight points.
