LEXINGTON — Mikey Neal’s grand slam in the fifth inning gave the Corbin Redhounds a large enough lead to knock off Great Crossing on Saturday with a 5-2 win.
Corbin held a 1-0 lead when Neal’s grand slam drove in Kade Elam, Walker Landrum, Bradric Helton, and himself in the top of the fifth inning.
Great Crossing scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning but Jeremiah Gilbert came in relief and tossed 2 1/3 of scoreless innings while allowing only one hit, striking out five batters, and picking up the save.
Cruz Cima got the win, tossing 4 2/3 of an inning while allowing four hits and two earned runs. He also struck out five batters.
Landrum finished with a hit, an RBI and a run scored at the plate while Elam had a hit and two runs scored. Lucas Tarvin added a hit while Helton scored once.
