WILLIAMSBURG — Jeremy Shope notched his 500th career win this weekend as his team took a 16-1 win over the Black Bears of Harlan County.
Bryce Anderson’s impressive performance, driving in five runs on just two hits, propelled the Whitley County Colonels to a commanding 16-1 victory over Harlan County on Saturday. Anderson’s contributions were pivotal as he tripled in the third inning, bringing home three runs, and doubled in the first inning, adding two more to the scoreboard.
The Colonels wasted no time getting on the board, with Anderson’s first-inning double bringing in two runs, followed by RJ Osborne’s ground out, adding another.
Their offensive prowess continued in the second inning, scoring five runs on six hits. Bradyn Bargo’s single and EJ Allen’s triple contributed to the onslaught, along with Matthew Wright’s sacrifice fly and Osborne’s second double of the game.
In the third inning, the Colonels exploded for eight runs on six hits. Allen, Anderson, and Hunter Wilson each had key hits, while Osborne, Jerrod Croley, and Chris Cureton also chipped in, extending their lead significantly.
Allen’s solid pitching earned him the win, allowing only two hits and one unearned run over three innings, striking out five batters. Clark took the loss for Harlan County, enduring eight runs on nine hits over two innings.
The Colonels dominated at the plate, amassing 15 hits, with Wilson and Allen leading the charge with three hits each. Osborne and Jason Nunley also contributed multiple hits, while the team showcased their speed with four stolen bases.
Defensively, the Colonels were flawless, committing zero errors, with Spencer Bargo handling the most chances in the field.
For Harlan County, Jonah Swanner and Gilbert managed one hit each.
