2024 Southeastern Golden Glove Champion Wyatt Probus

Loughran’s Olympic Boxing athlete Wyatt Probus was back in action last Saturday in Cleveland, Tennessee at the 2024 Southeastern Golden Glove Championships.

Probus, a sixteen-year-old southpaw boxed seventeen year old Mario Lewis of Memphis for the title. Probus started the bout very calculated and methodical; walking Lewis down but throwing few punches while parrying Lewis’ punches with precision. Probus came out in the 2nd round in much more aggressive fashion, driving Lewis to the ropes and exploding with furious combinations that forced the referee to administer two standing eight counts. The 3rd round saw more of the same; with Probus dishing out the first eight count early in the round. He then continued to pressure Lewis with heavy combination punching, forcing the referee to stop the bout shy of the 3rd round distance. Wyatt secured his Golden Glove title and one of several for Loughran’s Olympic Boxing. “Wyatt is an incredibly talented athlete. The way that he responds to pressure and fatigue simply cannot be taught”, said trainer Jerry Loughran.
