WILLIAMSBURG — For three innings, Williamsburg hung tough with No. 3 ranked Clay County, trailing 6-1
But then came the fourth inning.
The Tigers (3-0) scored 14 runs while eventually pulling out a 20-4 win over the Yellow Jackets, who lost their season-opener.
Both teams scored a run apiece in the first inning before Clay County scored five runs in the top of the third inning to take a 6-1 edge.
The Tigers secured the win with 14 runs in the top of the fourth inning, pushing their advantage to 20-1 while Williamsburg managed to scored three runs in the bottom half of the fourth.
Clayton County finished the game with 11 hits while Grayson Hooker, Hayden Harris, Adon Grubb and Aiden Roberts tossed one inning apiece while combining to toss a no-hitter.
Brandin Crawford connected with his first home run of the season while driving in two runs. Tate Rice led the way with three hits and finished with a run scored and an RBI while Hyden Crockett finished with two hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
Williamsburg collected nine walks in the loss as Isaiah Sizemore led the team with two runs scored.
