MIDDLESBORO — Pineville pitcher Rachel Howard dominated in the pitcher’s circle, striking out 15 batters while limiting Middlesboro to only two hits in the Lady Mountain Lions’ 3-0 win on Tuesday.
The win improved Pineville to 1-1 while the Lady Yellow Jackets fell to 2-2.
The game was tied up til the third inning as the Lady Mountain Lions scored to take a 1-0 lead. They added another run in the fifth inning before putting the game away with a run in the sixth inning.
Howard’s went 3-for-3 at the plate while McKenzie Laws had two hits and an RBI, and Isabella Adams finished with two hits. Baileigh Bargo-Vaughn also had a run-scoring hit in the win.
Raehgan Moyers and Kennedy Yoakum each had hits for Middlesboro.
