CORBIN — Clay County’s Abby Bowling turned in a stellar effort to silence Lynn Camp’s bats on Tuesday.
Bowling struck out 11 batters and limited the Lady Wildcats to only two hits during the Lady Tigers’ 11-0 win.
The loss, Lynn Camp’s first, dropped the Lady Wildcats to 3-1 while Clayton County has now won four straight while improving to 4-1 in the process.
“We just couldn’t get things going offensively or defensively tonight,” Lynn Camp coach Nikki Hendrix said. “We got down the first inning and couldn’t recover. After that inning, we made some really good defensively plays. I hate losing, and hate that we lost, but we are going to take this game and use it for motivation for the rest of the week.”
The Lady Tigers took control of the game early, scoring six runs in the first inning while never looking back. They added a run in the third inning before scoring two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
Kylie Frost hit a home run in the win for Clay County, finishing with a hit, two RBI and a run scored while Madison Sizemore had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Riley Tuttle finished with two hits, two RBI and two runs scored while Kyler Roberts had a hit, two RBI and one run scored.
Jorja Carnes took the loss for Lynn Camp, tossing four innings while allowing nine hits, and seven earned runs. She had four strikeouts. Lily Henize and Lauren Partin each had a hit apiece for the Lady Wildcats.
