Lady Redhounds get back to winning ways with road win over Henry Clay

LEXINGTON — Corbin got back in the win column on Thursday, hitting the road, and defeating Henry Clay, 7-4.
The Lady Redhounds (2-2) led 7-1 before weathering a late comeback attempt by the Lady Blue Devils in the bottom of the seventh.
Henry Clay managed to push across three runs, but Corbin pitcher Danni Foley sealed the deal and secured the win.
Foley picked up the win allowing 10 hits and three earned runs in seven innings of work while striking out 13 batters. She also led the team with two hits while driving in a run.
“We’ve already had to overcome some injuries, illness, some playing with an illness or injury, and have had a couple girls gone on a trip for school, but hey that’s softball,” Corbin coach Crystal Stidham said. “We did what my Lady Redhounds do, and we had some ladies step up in different roles tonight, and we got the win 7-4 over Henry Clay.
“Danni Foley got the job done in the circle for us with 13 Ks on the night,” she added. “She has been nursing an injury and was able to get back in the circle and did great. She went to work at the plate as well with two hits and an RBI on the night. “She had help with Morgan Hicks making her return tonight after a hamstring injury, collecting a hit and an RBI along with Abi Beller and Anela Sanders — both had hits. Anela Sanders and Raegan Hinkle both had an RBI a piece, too.”
Stidham stated she’s had to maneuver players around, but her players have been up to the task at hand.
“I’m so proud of their hard work and dedication,” she said. “Lydia King saw her first varsity start at third and played great defense on the corner which proved big for us tonight.
“We continue to overcome and I’m so proud of their work,” she added. “Every game has moving parts and you have to have the team mentality to be able to adjust and just work together to make things happen. Let’s Go Lady Redhounds.”
