Yellow Jackets get first win, hand Red Bird 16-1 loss

WILLIAMSBURG — Patrick Brennen got his first win as the Williamsburg Yellow Jacket coach as his squad improved to 1-4 with a 16-1 win over Red Bird.

Jacob Jones picked up the win on the mound, tossing four innings, allowing one hit, and one run while striking out seven batters.

“I think it was the best overall game so far this season,” Brennen said. “Defense made the plays when it was needed, our hitters swung the bat well, but I the biggest thing was Jacob Jones coming up big pitching. He threw a complete game and set us up for the rest of the week. I told the players the first win is the hardest to get and we have to keep the momentum going.”

Red Bird scored a run in the top of the first inning ing while Williamsburg answered with 16 runs.

Isaiah Sizemore led the way with two hits, three RBI, and two runs scored while Henry Bowl collected two hits, one RBI and three runs scored. Mason Roundtree also finished with two hits while driving in a run and scoring once.
