WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County’s hung tough against a very good Madison Central squad before falling 11-6 on Wednesday.
The Colonels (5-5) have now lost four games in a row, but coach Jeremy Shope continues to be encouraged of the improvement he is seeing out of his team.
“We got better offensively tonight,” he said. “We saw Madison Central’s number one tonight. We had some really good at bats against him. It’s good for us to play great competition day in and day out.
“We have to get better on the mound,” he added. “We’re walking too many guys right now. I love our team. If we stay the course and keep getting after it, great things can happen with this team.”
Jason Nunley led Whitley County with two hits and two RBI while EJ Allen finished with two hits and a run scored. Matthew Wright had a hit and an RBI.
