STEARNS — Corbin fell behind 4-0 in the top of the first inning, and never recovered, losing 16-5 to Perry Central in the Thursday’s Class 2A, Section 7 title game.

Morgan Hicks connected with a home run and drove in two runs while Danni Foley had a hit and drove in two runs in the loss.bailey Stewart led the Lady Redhounds with two hits while driving in a run and scoring once.

“Well tonight was not our night and that’s OK,” Corbin coach Crystal Stidham said. “Perry County Central is an awesome team and they had their bats rolling tonight. I’m proud of our effort and not giving up. Some nights are just not your night in the game of softball. I have to say I’m most proud of how my girls fought at the plate and put the ball in play. We only had two strikeouts on the night, my girls were putting the ball in play and making the defense work.

“We have worked on that mentality all season so far just that hitters mentality,” she added. “They are buying in and we have a long season and lots of games to work and get better. Great teams just make you better. Hats off to a great Perry Central team.

“Morgan Hicks and Danni Foley were hitting and have had a great tournament,” Stidham continued. “Mo hit a homer tonight to continue the game for us. Bailey Stewart and Raegan Hinkle were solid w a couple hits a piece and solid on offense, along with several others. We will learn and grow as we gain our stride this season. Let’s go Lady Redhounds.”
