Belle Dotson’s five goals highlight South Laurel’s blowout win over Russell County

The defending 13th Region champion South Laurel Lady Cardinals continue to dominate teams.
This time around, South Laurel traveled to Russell Springs, and knocked off Russell County, 11-1.
Lora Rison’s squad scored early and often, improving to 6-1 while scoring in double digits for the fourth time this season.

“After having a lightening delay, followed by a cancellation against Prestonsburg Monday night, we started out a little rusty,” South Laurel coach Lora Rison said. “It took our girls some time into the first half to get back to our type of play. Once we got into our rhythm, we started connecting and scoring. Despite the hard work and efforts of our defense, Russell County was a physical team and able to find the back of the net in the second half.”

Belle Dotson led South Laurel with five goals while Noelia Merced had two goals and three assists. Ella Rison finished with two goals and two assists, while Josie Gill, and Morgan Taylor each finished with a goal, and an assist apiece.
