WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County scored early and often, improving to 7-4, thanks to a 10-0 win over McCreary Central on Friday.
The Lady Colonels were hitting on all cylinders against the Lady Raiders, scoring two runs in the first inning while adding three runs in the second inning, three runs in the third inning, a run in the fourth inning and a run in the sixth inning.
Whitley County finished with 13 hits with three of those accounting for triples and two for doubles.
“I was proud of the girls for their W today,” Whitley County coach Angela Singleton said. “I think they were capable of scoring more earlier in the game. Defense and pitching were solid tonight.”
Hallie Huddleston went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI, and two hits while Adalee Johnson went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Morgan Huddleston finished with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored while Jayden Barton had two hits and scored once. Amber Brown had a hit, an RBI, and two runs scored while Kara Canada finished with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. Cambree Price scored twice while Jadynn Johnson finished with a hit.
Caylee Singleton picked up the win, allowing three hits and no earned runs. She finished with 10 strikeouts.
