The Whitley County Colonels secured an impressive 5-0 victory against the George Rogers Clark Cardinals this Friday. Head Coach Jeremy Shope expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “Good win for our team tonight. We beat a really good lefty on the mound for GRC. We had some good at bats against him. Good to see our pitchers fill up the zone. Defense played well.”
The Colonels seized the lead early in the game, capitalizing on an error by the George Rogers Clark team in the first inning, allowing RJ Osborne to score. EJ Allen’s ground out in the second inning added another run to their tally.
Pitcher Kip Allen delivered a stellar performance, clinching the win for the Colonels. He pitched four innings, surrendering no runs on two hits while striking out two and walking three. Despite facing stiff competition, the Colonels managed to dominate on the field, with Jordan Soliz of the George Rogers Clark team suffering the loss despite a commendable six-inning effort.
Matthew Wright and Jason Nunley led the offensive charge for the Colonels, each collecting two hits. Additionally, Bryce Anderson, Hunter Wilson, and EJ Allen contributed with one run batted in each. EJ Allen showcased his speed by stealing three bases, while the team as a whole stole five bases and exhibited impeccable defense with no errors committed.
