PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — Angela Singleton’s Whitley County Lady Colonels faced a 7-1 deficit heading into the fifth inning of Monday’s matchup with Madison Southern before putting together a rally that saw them get as close as one run.
But in the end, the Lady Eagles’ bats were just too much as Madison Southern outslugged Whitley County, 15-8.
The Lady Colonels (7-5) were outhit 18-4 but took advantage of four errors committed by the Lady Eagles that led to five unearned runs.
But Whitley County struggled defensively as well, committing five errors which led to three unearned runs.
Adalee Johnson led Whitley County with a triple, three RBI, and a run scored while Amber Brown delivered a home run, two RBI, and finished with one run scored. Caylee Singleton and Kara Canada finished with a hit apiece while Hallie Huddleston scored three times. Morgan Huddleston and Jayden Barton scored one run apiece.
