MANCHESTER — Jackson County’s Candice Williams continues her stellar season in the pitcher’s circle by turning in a dominating effort Monday during the Lady Generals’ 3-0 win over Clay County in a key 49th District battle.
Williams scattered five hits while allowing no runs and striking out 13 batters as Jackson County improved to 9-3 after capturing its third win in a row.
The Lady Generals took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning while adding two more runs in the sixth inning to seal the win.
Baylee Berry and Blakelynn Fee had Jackson County’s lone hits. Berry was 1-for-2 with two RBI, and a run scored while Fee connected with a triple and scored once.
Clayton County’s Abby Bowling pitched a solid game, too. She tossed seven innings allowing only two hits and three earned runs while striking out seven batters.
Carlie Wolfe, Bowling, Riley Tuttle, Emi Reynolds and Kylie Frost had one hit apiece for the Lady Tigers (5-3).
