Consecutive inside the park home runs lead to Lady Colonels’ win over Elliott County

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — Angela Singleton’s Whitley County Lady Colonels continue to impress, improving to 8-5 on Tuesday after rallying from a 6-2 deficit.

The Lady Colonels pushed across five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to surprise Elliott County with a 7-6 win.

Ciara Pittman and Amber Brown connected with inside the parkhome runs in the win while Caylee Singleton was credited with the win. Singleton gave up 11 hits and three earned runs while striking out three batters.

Whitley County built a 1-0 lead after one inning of play before falling behind 5-2. The Lady Colonels trailed by three runs entering the bottom of the sixth as Pittman was inserted as a pinch hitter, and delivered an inside the park home run to tie the game at six apiece. Brown followed with her own inside the park home run to give her team the lead for good. 

Pittman finished the game 1-for-1 with four RBI, and one run scored while Brown had a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. Morgan Huddleston led Whitley County with two hits while driving in a run. Cambree Price delivered a hit and scored twice while Hallie Huddleston finished with a hit, and scored once.
