Lady Colonels rally from 3-0 deficit to defeat Pike Central, 8-3

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — Whitley County’s spotted Pike Central a 3-0, overcame a four-error effort defensively, and still found a way to win their third game in the Cal Ripken Experience.
The Lady Colonels scored eight unanswered runs while handing Pike Central an 8-3 loss on Wednesday.
Whitley County (9-5) scored two runs in the fourth inning and pushed across a run in the fifth inning to tie the game at three apiece. A four-run sixth inning gave the Lady Colonels a 7-3 advantage while an insurance run in the seventh inning wrapped up the win.
“The girls did a great job making adjustments at the plate and hitting the ball where it was pitched,” Whitley County coach Angela Singleton said. “Defense was solid today and pitching was on point. Kara did a great job hitting her spots and keeping batters off balance.”
Kara Canada started the game in the pitcher’s circle, lasting five inning while striking out five batters, giving up five hits and two earned runs.
Caylee Singleton pitched two scoreless and hitless innings.
Canada connected with a home run, finishing with two hits, two RBI, and one run scored. Morgan Huddleston was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Singleton turned in a 3-for-4 effort with an RBI and a run scored. Payton Hurst finished with a hit and an RBI while Adalee Johnson collected a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. Hallie Huddleston finished with a hit and a run scored while Jadynn Barton finished with a hit.
