Redhounds remain red-hot, run win streak to eight games

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — Cody Philpot’s Corbin Redhounds are now 4-0 while playing in the Sunshine State after handing Spring Hill an 8-4 loss on Thursday.
The Redhounds (10-2) improved to 10-2 while extending their win streak to eight games after outhitting their opponents, 10-3.
Lucas Tarvin got the win on the Mound, pitching 4 2/3 of an inning, allowing one hit and one earned run. Clay Botner, Noah Cima and JT Gentry combined to pitch the final 2 1/3 of an inning allowing only three hits and three earned runs.
Corbin built a 3-1 lead after the first inning of play before adding two runs in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.
“Lucas threw well today, we jumped out early and were able to steal the momentum after they scored in the first and hold onto it throughout,” Philpot said. “Our defense has been playing well and that continued today. I’m very happy with the week so far, we need to close it out on a positive note tomorrow.”
Botner and Mikey Neal led the way with two hits and a run scored apiece while Tarvin had a hit, two RBI, and a run scored. Cooper McCauley finished with a hit and two RBI while Bradric Helton delivered a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored while Walker Landrum finished with a hit and an RBI. Noah Cima collected a hit and scored once while Kade Elam had a hit and Cam Estep scored once.
