Candice Williams impresses at the plate and pitcher’s circle during Jackson County’s 3-0 win over Lynn Camp

CORBIN — Jackson County’s Candice Williams dominated in the pitcher’s circle during Monday’s 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic Tournament, shutting down Lynn Camp’s bats during the Lady Generals’ 3-0 win.

“Jackson County came to play tonight,” Lynn Camp coach Nikki Hendrix said. “They are a good ball team. We played a very good game too, but couldn’t string hits together when we had runners on base. Defensively, we played a really solid game and Jorja had another great night on the mound. The girls didn’t give up and they kept talking and encouraging each other. It sucks to lose, but we will regroup and come back out ready to pick up a win in our next game.”

Williams notched another complete game victory, limiting the Lady Wildcats (7-6) to only five hits and no runs while striking out 12 batters.

The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when Williamsburg helped her own cause by delivering a two-run home run. Lexi Brockman also drove in a run, as Jackson County (10-3) rolled to its fourth straight win while outscoring its opponents 37-0 during the span.

Lynn Camp received a solid pitching effort from Jorja Carnes, who pitched a complete game while allowing five hits, and three earned runs. She struck out eight batters.

Lily Henzie led the Lady Wildcats with two hits.
