LONDON — North Laurel moved over the .500 mark with a 9-3 win over Whitley County on Monday.
The Lady Jaguars (7-6) fell behind 2-0 in the top of the first inning but responded with four runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back.
Emma Carl picked up the win in the pitcher’s circle and connected with another home run in the six-run win.
“Good game and win for my girls tonight,” North Laurel coach Christina Edwards said. “Whitley got a couple of hits and a couple of runs in the first and put pressure on us to answer. Fortunately, we were able to with some runs of our own.
“Emma pitched a complete game tonight and only allowed one hit after the first inning,” he added. “For the most part we played good defense behind her. Offensively, seven of the nine girls in the lineup had hits. Multiple hit games from Katie Sams and Bella Sizemore. It is nice to string some hits together. Good start to the middle part of our season. We need to focus on getting better and doing the little things better than we have been. I’m happy we won tonight but we still have work to do. On the road tomorrow. Go Jags.”
