LONDON — North Laurel ran its win streak to a season-best four games after rolling past Wayne County, 10-0, on Tuesday.
Pitcher Tessa Monhollen continues to impress in the pitcher’s circle, allowing only two hits while striking out six batters in five innings of work.
Saige McClure came up huge at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, and one run scored while Katie Sams had two hits, an RBI, and three runs scored.
“Another good game for our girls tonight,” North Laurel coach Chris Edwards said. “Tessa started the game and went the distance only going up one hit. She continues to work hard and the results are starting to show.”
Bella Sizemore finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored while Braylee Fawbush had two hits and an RBI. Katie Keen delivered a hit, three RBI, and scored once. Ellie Adams and Emma Carl had a hit, an RBI, and a run scored apiece.
“Offensively, we had a bunch of hits in the first four innings but we could not string them together,” Edwards said. “Credit for that goes to the Wayne County pitcher and their defense. She kept us off balance early on before we were able to time her up. They also made a couple of nice defensive plays that kept us from scoring.
“Hits again up and down the lineup,” he added. “Multiple hits from Katie Sams, Saige McClure, Bella Sizemore and Braylee Fawbush. We still made a couple of mistakes that we need to clean up but overall a good game for us. Back at it Thursday against Madison Southern. Go Jags.”
