Lady Jaguars pound out 14 hits during 13-3 win over Lynn Camp

LONDON — All of North Laurel’s starters got at least one hit during the Lady Jaguars’ 13-3 win over Lynn Camp on Friday.

North Laurel (9-6) jumped out to a 5-0 lead before scoring four runs in the third inning while adding four more runs in the fifth inning to put the game away.

Saige McClure finished with two hits, four RBI and two runs scored while Katie Keen was perfect at the plate with a 3-for-3 effort while driving in two runs and scoring three times. Braylee Fawbush had two hits and two RBI while Bella Sizemore finished with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored. Katie Sams had a triple, two RBI, and three runs scored.

“Good game today,” North Laurel coach Chris Edwards said. “Thanks to Coach (Nikki) Hendrix and Lynn Camp for coming up on short notice. Her and her staff do such a good job there.”

Emma Carl picked up the win in the pitcher’s circle allowing only one earned run while striking out five batters for North Laurel while the Lady Jaguars defense only committed one error.

“For us as always, it starts with pitching and defense,” Edwards said. “Only one error and one earned run tonight. I’ll take that all the time.

“Offensively, another god night at the plate,” he added. “Saige McClure, Bella Sizemore, Braylee Fawbush and Katie Keen each had multiple hits. We scored in four of the five innings also. Very happy with how we played. Now we gotta get ready for another district seed game Monday at Clay County. Go Jags.”

Lily Henzie led the Lady Wildcats (7-7) with two hits and one run scored. Jorja Carnes took the loss in the pitcher’s circle, allowing 10 earned runs while striking out three batters.

“We didn’t play a bad game, North had some really good hits with runners in scoring position,” Lynn Camp coach Nikki Hendrix said. “We hit the ball OK, but when we had runners in scoring position we were able to push them across. We played a really good game defensively and Chelsea Hendrickson made an amazing diving catch in Centerfield. Jorja Carnes continues to pitch really well and she keeps improving every game. I’m hoping that this game and our game Monday against Corbin will help us prepare for our district competition next week.”
