Corbin falls to Anderson County 13-8.

CORBIN – Danni Foley showcased her prowess on the field, delivering an impressive performance with three hits in four at-bats for Corbin Lady Redhounds Softball 2024, but despite her stellar contributions, the team faced a 13-8 defeat at the hands of Anderson County Lady Bearcats.

Foley’s standout moments included a powerful home run blasted to right field in the eighth inning, along with timely doubles in both the first and sixth innings.

The game started with Anderson County taking an early lead, courtesy of Lacey Osborne’s two-run homer to center field in the opening inning. They extended their advantage further in the second inning after Lady Redhounds committed an error, allowing Emma Stevens to capitalize with a crucial RBI single.

Corbin fought back, with Raegan Walker’s fourth-inning homer igniting hope for a comeback. Anela Sanders then stepped up in the sixth inning, delivering a clutch double on the sixth pitch of her at-bat to level the score at four apiece

Despite the uphill battle, Corbin showed resilience, narrowing the deficit in the bottom of the eighth inning. Foley’s second homer of the game, coupled with Kennedie Guiher’s RBI single, trimmed the lead to 13-8.

On the pitching front, Kallie Housley took the mound for Corbin, enduring a challenging outing against Anderson County’s potent lineup. Housley battled through eight innings, surrendering 15 hits and 12 runs (seven earned), while striking out two and issuing three walks. Meanwhile, Osborne spearheaded Anderson County’s pitching efforts, allowing 11 hits and seven runs (six earned) over eight innings, tallying six strikeouts without conceding a walk.

In terms of offensive production, Corbin Lady Redhounds amassed 11 hits throughout the game, with Sanders, Guiher, and Bailey Stewart leading the charge with multiple hits each. Conversely, Anderson County showcased their offensive prowess with a total of 15 hits, highlighted by stellar performances from Bailey Mitchell and Emma Stevens, who each notched three hits. Stevens emerged as a driving force, delivering a 3-for-5 performance at the plate and leading the team with three runs batted in.
