Jaguars’ losing skid hits two games with 9-7 loss to Tates Creek

The Jaguars dropped their second in a row, falling to 6-8, after falling to Tates Creek on Saturday, 9-7.

North Laurel took early leads of 1-0 and 4-3 before the Commodores began to take control of the game with two runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Darren McWhorter’s squad tied the game at seven apiece in the bottom of the fifth inning, but Tates Creek answered with runs in the sixth and seventh innings to secure the two-run victory.

Carter Kelley turned in a two-hit effort while driving in two runs and scoring once. Eli Holt had two hits and an RBI while Cooper Elza finished with two hits and two runs scored. Cam Hinkle had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored while Andrew Cupp drove in two runs with a hit.

J. Douglas Gilliam took the loss, tossing five innings while allowing seven hits, and seven earned runs. Gilliam finished with two strikeouts. Zac Johnston pitched the final two innings, allowing three hits and one earned run. He struck out four batters.
