Whitley County Lady Colonels Secure Victory Over Garrard County with Stellar Performance

The Whitley County Lady Colonels clinched an 8-3 triumph over Garrard County on Saturday, displaying a dominant performance on the field. The Lady Colonels wasted no time in taking the lead, scoring one run in the opening inning following an error.

Although Garrard County managed to tie the game at one in the third inning with Murphy’s single, Whitley County quickly regained the lead in the fourth inning. Caylee Singleton’s groundout brought in a run, followed by Amber Brown’s single, extending the lead to 3-1.

Garrard County narrowed the gap with a solo home run by Childress in the fifth inning, but Whitley County maintained control. Singleton, who pitched the entire game, secured the win for the Lady Colonels, allowing three runs on 10 hits over six innings, while striking out three and walking two.

Singleton also made her presence felt at the plate, driving in two runs from the seventh spot in the lineup. Jayden Barton and Kara Canada each contributed three hits for the Lady Colonels, while Hallie Huddleston displayed patience, drawing two walks.

The team showcased discipline at the plate, accumulating five walks throughout the game, with Huddleston leading the way with three stolen bases out of the team’s total of four. Defensively, Whitley County executed flawlessly, turning two double plays and committing zero errors, with Huddleston recording the most chances in the field with eight.

Despite Garrard County’s efforts, Whittaker, Childress, Murphy, and Shelton each collected two hits, while Childress, Murphy, and Logan each drove in a run.

Looking ahead, the Lady Colonels will face Wayne County in their next matchup on Saturday.
