REGION STUNNER: Middlesboro rallies to knock off No. 1 South Laurel, 6-4

MIDDLESBORO — The 13th Region’s top ranked team was stunned Monday after dropping a 6-4 decision to Middlesboro.

South Laurel (14-5) led 4-1 entering the bottom of the fourth inning, and then the wheels fell off.

The Lady Yellow Jackets (6-9) scored five unanswered runs to secure the win.

Kolbi Mason came up with a big hit, going 1-for-1 while driving in three runs for Middlesboro. Kenna Lawson had two hits and scored once while Kaylee delivered two hits along with Raehgan Moyers.

Kaylee Lawson picked up the win in the pitchers circle, tossing five innings while allowing eight hits and two earned runs. She struck out three batters.

Addison Baker led the Lady Cardinals with two hits and two RBI while Kenzie Williams had two hits and one RBI. Bailey Frazier connected with two hits and scored once while Ryleigh Bretz and Audrey Likins finished with a hit and an RBI apiece.

Morgan Jackson started the game for South Laurel, lasting 3 1/3 of an inning while giving up four hits and three runs. Likins took the loss, pitching 1 1/3 of an inning while giving up three hits and three earned runs. Williams pitched the final 1 1/3 of an inning, allowing no hits and no runs.
