Lady Redhounds snap nine-game losing skid with 12-1 win over Lynn Camp

CORBIN — After starting the season with 16 games on the road, Crystal Stidham’s Corbin Lady Redhounds were able to play in front of their home crowd and on their own new home turf on Monday.

Corbin (5-12) was looking to put an end to its nine-game losing skid, and the Lady Redhounds did just that with a 12-1 victory.

“Proud of my girls tonight,” Stidham said. “We finally got to play a game at home this season and although the construction is still ongoing on buildings, the field was ready and so were my Lady Redhounds to get that win for their first home game of the season.

“We have tirelessly traveled everywhere, gone through the ins and outs and we have been searching for our rhythm,” she added. “They were able to get both offense and defense clicking which is what we have been working toward facing a very tough schedule.

“Coach Nikki Hendrix always has her team ready to hit the ball, but Danni (Foley) was great in the circle tonight,” Stidham continued. “She only allowed one hit and struck out six, let her defense work, and the defense helped shut down their offense. Then Kallie Housley did what Kallie Housley does, leading us at the plate with two huge triples to rack in four RBI and she was backed with Raegan Hinkle and Danni Foley both going 2-for-3 with Hinkle tacking on three RBI and Danni with two RBI. Bailey Stewart smacked a triple along with Raegan Walker and she also had two RBI. Abi Beller had an hit and an RBI, and Alana Stidham was able to tack on a hit for the team. The ladies had 10 hits and capitalized on eight walks, being patient at the plate getting into their counts and looking for strikes to hit. I’m just proud of them, my ladies have faced a tough schedule and so glad to see them pick up this win. We have at least a four-game schedule every week the rest of season and looking to put things together and continue to find success. Let’s go Lady Redhounds.”

After starting the season with a 7-1 mark, Lynn Camp has now dropped seven games in a row.

“We played well in the first inning, but we weren’t able to hold onto the league,” Lynn Camp coach Nikki Hendrix said. “Corbin is a really good softball team and they have the ability to make a big play. Chelsea Hendrickson played a good defensive game and Lily Henize done very well at the plate. I was happy with our pitch selection when we were up to bat. I hope this game has prepared my girls for our big district games this week.”
