The Lady Yellow Jackets trailed 3-0 entering the fifth inning before putting six runs on the scoreboard to take a 6-3 advantage.
The Lady Tigers responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut their deficit to 6-5 but Williamsburg (3-13) put the game away with six more runs in the top of the seventh inning.
“We gutted out a win tonight,” Winchester said. “We struggled hitting the ball early but came around and pulled out 10 hits for the game. We rallied in the seventh to come out on top. I was proud of our girls for fighting through.”
Haylee Baird came through at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Chloe Barman had two hits and two RBI while Allie Wilson and Makenzie Rice had a hit, two RBI, and one run scored apiece. Jasmine Stephens finished with two hits and a run scored while Kaydence Parker had a hit. Brooklyn Taylor and Kyli Monhollen finished with an RBI and two runs scored apiece while Kaitlyn Moses had a hit and a run scored.
Monhollen started the game in the pitcher’s circle, tossing 1 2/3 of an inning while allowing five hits and two earned runs. She struck out two batters. Wilson picked up the win, pitching the final 5 1/3 of an inning while scattering three hits and allowing only one run. She struck out five batters.
