Lady Cardinals improve to 2-0 in 50th District play with win over Williamsburg 

LONDON — South Laurel continues to impress at the plate, recording its seventh game of the season, scoring at least 10 runs on Thursday.

The Lady Cardinals (14-5 overall, 2-0 vs. 50th District opponents) collected 11 hits while having three players record at least two hits during their 16-1 win over Williamsburg.

Both teams scored a run apiece in the first inning but a 10-run second inning for South Laurel combined with a four run fourth inning allowed the Lady Cardinals to roll to a 15-run win.

The Lady Yellow Jackets saw their record drop to 3-13 overall, and 0-2 against 50th District opponents.

South Laurel’s Audrey Likins turned head in the pitcher’s circle, tossing four innings while allowing only three hits and one run. She struck out two batters.

Emmie Rice led the Lady Cardinals with a perfect 3-for-3 effort while driving in three runs. Morgan Jackson had three hits, two runs scored, and two RBI while Kenzie Williams finished with two hits, three RBI, and three runs scored. Addison Baker and Skye Lawson finished with a hit, three RBI and one run scored apiece while Ryleigh Bretz finished with a hit, a run scored, and two RBI. Amara Horn and Bailey Frazier finished with two runs scored apiece while Likins scored once.

Makenzie Rice had a hit and scored once for Williamsburg while Chloe Barman had a hit and drove in a run. Kaitlyn Moses also had a hit while Kyli Monhollen received the loss, allowing 11 hits and five earned runs in 3 1/3 of an innings. She also struck out two batters.
