STANFORD — Bella Finley turned in an impressive game at the plate, collecting two hits, an inside the park home run, four RBI and two runs scored to help guide North Laurel to a 16-6 win over Lincoln County.
Tessa Monhollen got the win, pitching three innings while allowing five hits and four earned runs. She struck out two batters while Emma Carl got the save, putting in three innings of work, allowing one hit, and one earned run. Carl struck out one batter.
“A pretty good game tonight,” North Laurel coach Chris Edwards said. “We hit the ball well again. Multiple hits from Bella Finley, Saige McClure, Emma Carl and Katie Keen. Several extra base hits as well.
“Pitching was good again,” he added. “Tessa started and got the win. Emma finished the game and got the save. They are giving us a chance to win every night.”
Lincoln County scored a run in the top of the first inning but its lead was short-lived. The Lady Jaguars (11-6) answered with eight runs in the bottom of the first to take an 8-1 edge.
The Lady Patriots cut its deficit to 9-6 after four innings before a seven-run sixth inning by North Laurel wrapped up the win.
Katie Keen went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs score while Saige McClure had two hits, which included a home run, three RBI and one run scored. Emma Carl was 3-for-3 with two RBI, and two runs scored while Ellie Adams had a hit, two RBI, and two runs scored. Bella Sizemore had a hit, an RBI, and two runs scored while Braylee Fawbush finished with a hit. Morgan Edwards finished with two runs scored.
“We made a couple of early mistakes and Lincoln scored an unearned run,” Edwards said. “Then we worked to build a lead, but credit to Lincoln County. They fought back and made the game close again. Luckily, we were able to pull away at the end.
“The softball season is a grind,” he added. “We are in the middle of it at this point and just happy to get another win. Back at it tomorrow at Estill and Saturday at home. Go Jags.”
