Lady Yellow Jackets’ late-game rally falls short against McCreary Central

WILLIAMSBURG — A six-run sixth inning was enough to allow McCreary Central pull out a 12-6 win over Williamsburg on Friday.
The Lady Yellow Jackets (3-13) fought throughout the contest but could never grab the lead.
Williamsburg trailed 3-0 before cutting its deficit to 3-2 in the third inning. The Lady Raiders scored nine unanswered runs to push their advantage to 12-3 before seeing the Lady Yellow Jackets attempt to rally with three runs in the sixth inning and one run in the seventh inning.
Haylee Baird led Williamsburg with three hits, one RBI, and two runs scored while Kaitlyn Moses had two hits, an RBI and one run scored. Kyli Monhollen finished with a hit and a run scored while Allie Wilson had a hit and an RBI. Kendall Hamlin drove in a run and scored once while Chloe Barman connected with a hit.
Wilson took the loss, tossing five innings while allowing nine hits, and six earned runs. She struck out five batters. Monhollen allowed five hits, and three earned runs while striking out one batter.
