CORBIN — Cody Philpot’s Corbin Redhounds needed a win over Williamsburg to keep pace in the race for the 50th District’s top seed, and they did just that.
Led by Cruz Cima and Ethan Abner on the mound, the duo combined to toss a no-hitter while notching 10 strikeouts during the process as the Redhounds won, 14-0.
The win improved Corbin to 15-6 overall and 3-2 in 50th District play while Williamsburg fell to 1-15, and 0-5 against 50th District opponents.
Redhound senior Mikey Neal took care of business at the plate, connecting with his sixth home run off the season. Jeremiah Gilbert was 2-for-2 with two runs scored while Noah Cima had a hit, an RBI, and two runs scored. Walker Landrum and Kade Elam had a hit and two RBI apiece while Abner had a hit and drove in two runs.
“Cruz and Abner threw well, filled up the zone and we did what we needed to do to get the win,” Philpot said. “Mikey continues to be a leader for us and stay hot at the plate, and it’s good to see Jeremiah getting healthy as well.”
