BARBOURVILLE — Lynn Camp coach Nikki Hendrix had a goal set before the season for her team to go undefeated in 51st District play.
She can put a check mark on her list of goals after her Lady Wildcats accomplished the feat after Tuesday’s 18-3 win over Barbourville.
Lynn Camp has won six of its last seven games and three in a row while improving to 13-9 overall, and 3-0 against district opponents.
The Lady Wildcats locked up their first-ever No. 1 seed in the 51st District just a week ago after defeating both Pineville and Knox Central.
“Glad we were able to pick up another win tonight against a good District opponent,” Hendrix said. “Our bats came alive in the first inning and they didn’t stop. Every player on the team contributed at the plate and either scored or drove in runs. Allie Messer hit her third home run of the season and Jorja Carnes reached another pitching milestone, recording her 300th career strikeout.”
Hendrix’s squad wasted no time in taking control of the game, scoring 10 runs in the first inning while never looking back.
Lynn Camp racked up 15 hits as Allison Messer had two hits, a home run, four RBI, and three runs scored in the win. Charity Steele was 3-for-4 with three RBI, and one run scored while Lauren Partin had three hits, three RBI, and three runs scored. Lily Henize finished with three hits, two RBI, and three runs scored. Cambree Prewitt finished with two hits, and an RBI while Jorja Carnes had a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. Emma Burnett collected a hit and two RBI and scored once while Chelsea Hendrickson scored three times. Julie Messer scored once.
Carnes got the win, allowing seven hits and two earned runs while striking out five batters.
