Redhounds lock up 50th District’s No. 2 seed with win over Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG — Corbin needed only three innings to finish its 50th District sweep of Williamsburg on Tuesday.

Led by Lucas Tarvin’s two-hit gem that saw him strike out five batters, the Redhounds cruised to an easy 16-1 win, improving to 16-1 overall while finishing district play with a 4-2 mark.

Corbin will be the No. 2 seed in the 50th District Tournament after Whitley County defeated South Laurel on Tuesday. The Colonels will be the No. 1 seed while the Cardinals will be the three-seed, and the Yellow Jackets the four-seed.

“Tarvin threw well and were able to get guys across tonight,” Corbin coach Cody Philpot said. “We’ll get back to the grind and keep working to get better every day. A few big tests coming up for us the rest of the week.”

Corbin took advantage of 11 walks in the win, and only had five hits as Jeremiah Gilbert drove in three runs with a hit while Walker Landrum had a hit and two RBI. Tarvin also had a hit and two RBI while Noah Cima had a hit and an RBI. Mikey Neal drove in two runs.
