WILLIAMSBURG — Corbin pitcher Danni Foley was on top of her game during Tuesday’s 50th District matchup with Whitley County.
She tossed all five innings of the Lady Redhounds’ 13-0 win over the Lady Colonels while allowing only one hit, and striking out five batter.
It was a much-needed win for Corbin, who improved to 7-14 overall, and 1-2 against 50th District opponents. The loss dropped Whitley County to 12-10 and 1-1 against district opponents.
“Proud of my ladies tonight,” Corbin coach Crystal Stidham said. “Facing our district foe Whitley County is always a huge game. Danni Foley was awesome in the circle and our defense came to play. She only allowed one hit, struck out five, and the field did the rest. So proud of our team defensive effort.
“Then they came to the plate ready or able to make the right adjustments to put the ball in play,” she added. “Raegan Walker was in beast mode tonight going 3-for-4, with a double, and a home run. She was dialed in. She was followed by Morgan Hicks going 3-for-4, Kallie (Housley) and Bailey (Stewart) both going 2-for-3 with a triple apiece. Anela Sanders was 2-for-4, Abi Beller, Kennedie Guiher, and Alana Stidham each had a hit a piece as well.
“Overall, we had 15 hits on the night,” Stidham continued. “Patience at the plate paid off with five walks. It’s always great to get a district win. We always have a strong district, just great coaches and great kids all around. Let’s Go Lady Redhounds.”
