Jaguars get over the .500 mark with 6-5 win over Madison Southern 

LONDON — Four errors by Madison Southern, combined with timely hitting and solid pitching by Dylan Hurley and Cam Hinkle led to North Laurel’s 6-5 win over Madison Southern. 

The Jaguars (12-11) moved over .500 with the win, fighting back from 4-1 deficit to pick up the slim one-run victory.

“Got a win against a very good Madison Southern team,” North Laurel coach Darren McWhorter said. “It was a total team win. Dylan Hurley got off to a tough start but then settled in and threw well for six innings, and Cam Hinkle came in the seventh and got the save. Defensively, we played well and had some really good at bats one through nine.

Cooper Elza led North Laurel with two hits while Carter Kelley, Hurley, and Jude McWhorter added a hit and an RBI apiece. Andrew Cupp drove in a run while Cameron Smith finished with a hit and J. Douglas Gilliam scored a run.

Hurley picked up the win, tossing six innings while allowing six hits and four earned runs. He also had a strikeout. Hinkle recorded the save, pitching an inning while allowing two hits and an earned run. He finished with one strikeout.
