Three-run second inning leads to Corbin’s loss to Pikeville

CORBIN — Cody Philpot’s Corbin Redhounds fell to 16-6 after dropping a 5-3 decision to Pikeville on Thursday.
Corbin fell behind 3-0 in the top of the second inning and never recovered. The Redhounds trailed 5-2 entering the sixth inning and managed to score a run but couldn’t push across any more runs.
Cam Estep led Corbin with two hits while scoring once. Walker Landrum and Kade Elam connected with run-scoring hits while Elam’s was a home run, and he also scored once. Lucas Travis had a hit and scored once while Mikey Neal finished with a hit.
Bradric Helton took the loss, lasting four innings while allowing six hits and four earned runs. He struck out seven batters. Will Freeman tossed the last three innings, allowing only three hits and striking out three batters.
