Clay County picked up two big wins this weekend with victories over Hazard (13-3), and Bath County (7-3).
Clay County 13, Hazard 3
The Tigers (14-9) built a 4-0 lead and used a four-run fourth inning to knock off the Bulldogs, 13-3.
Talan Marcum connected with a home run while going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored while six players overall had multiple hits for Clay County.
Brandin Crawford had two hits, one RBI and three runs scored while Tyson Wagers finished with two hits, one RBI, and two runs scored. Hayden Crockett had two hits and an RBI while Aidan Roberts was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Brody Hooker collected two hits and scored once while Tate Rice finished with a hit and two RBI.
Crawford got the win, pitching three innings while allowing only two hits. He struck out four batters. Hooker pitched the final three innings, allowing four hits, and striking out three batters.
Clay County 7, Bath County 3
Tate Rice delivered two hits, an RBI and scored twice in Clay County’s 7-3 win over Bath County.
The Tigers scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Hayden Crockett delivered a run-scoring hit while Talan Marcum drove in a run. Marcum also got the win, tossing seven innings while allowing five hits and two earned runs. He struck out three batters.
