Redhounds score early and often during 16-4 win over North Laurel 

LONDON — Cody Philpot’s Corbin Redhounds became the first team in the 13th Region to capture 19 wins thanks to a 16-4 win over North Laurel on Monday.

The Redhounds (19-6) scored early and often against the Jaguars, using a four-run second inning, and a seven-run third inning to pull away from North Laurel (13-12).

Will Freeman got the win on the mound, tossing three innings while allowing only two hits and no earned runs. He finished with two strikeouts while Cam Estep pitched two innings, allowing five hits and three earned runs. Estep struck out two batters.

Corbin recorded 11 hits in the win as Walker Landrum finished with two hits, five RBI, and one run scored. Noah Cima delivered two hits, four RBI, and two runs scored while Clay Botner had two hits, an RBI and scored three times. Jeremiah Gilbert delivered two hits, an RBI and scored twice while Estep collected a hit, an RBI, and scored twice. Mikey Neal finished with a hit, three RBI, and one run scored while Bradric Helton delivered a hit and scored twice. Ethan Abner had an RBI while Kade Elam scored once.

“We had several guys with a good day at the plate today,” Philpot said. “We executed well with runners in scoring position and didn’t give up many free bases. That’s a good recipe for success.”

Andrew Cupp continued his red-hot play at the plate for North Laurel, going 2-for-2 with three RBI. Eli Holt had two hits and an RBI while Cameron Smith finished with a hit and two runs scored. Carter Kelley and Jude McWhorter had a hit and scored a run apiece while Cooper Elza had a hit.
