Lady Jaguars make quick work of Clay County with 15-0 win

LONDON — When you’re hot, you’re hot, and the North Laurel Lady Jaguars are red-hot.
Coming off a big win over crosstown rival South Laurel, Chris Edwards’ Lady Jaguars aren’t showing any signs of cooling off.
It was evident during Tuesday’s 49th District matchup with Clay County.
The Lady Jaguars (16-7) used a nine-run second inning to cruise past the Lady Tigers, who fell to 9-13.
North Laurel wrapped up the 49th District’s top seed with the win, improving 4-0 against district competition while Clay County fell to 0-3 against district opponents.
“Another good night for my girls,” Edwards said. “They have been working so hard and most people don’t see it. But they really put in the work and it’s really nice to see the results.
“Offensively, hits from everybody in the lineup and multiple hits from Saige McClure, Bella Sizemore, Ellie Adams and Katie Keen again,” he added. “We are seeing the ball really well right now and putting some good swings on it. Sixteen hits total, five extra base hits, including a homer by Ellie.
“We also know that we aren’t going to score like this every night,” Edwards continued. “Tessa Monhollen threw a one-hitter tonight and only had one walk. Another really good outing from her. She has been very good lately. We also had no defensive errors. Great pitching and defense is something we try to do every day. Lately we‘ve been able to do both. Back to work tomorrow before the Jags Awards Thursday and our tournament at home this weekend. Go Jags.”
Ellie Adams continued her impressive plate at the plate, delivering her fourth home run of the season while going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run scored. Bella Sizemore was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, four RBI, and one run scored. Saige McClure turned in a 2-for-3 effort with an RBI and three runs scored while Katie Keen had two hits, two RBI, and a run scored. Morgan Edwards delivered a hit, two RBI, and scored once while Katie Sams finished with a hit, an RBI, and three runs scored. Emma Carl and Bella Finley had a hit and a run scored apiece while Baylee Fawbush finished with a hit.
Tessa Monhollen picked up her seventh win while tossing four scoreless innings. She gave up only one hit and struck out six batters.
